SAUK RAPIDS -- Two people were arrested for related incidents in Sauk Rapids over the past week.

The first incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of 2nd Avneue North.

Police Chief Perry Beise says they received reports of gun shots in the area. When officers arrived they found no evidence of the incident. Later that day, the home owner called police saying someone had shot holes in their truck and flattened a tire.

Beise says officers arrested a 15-year-old boy who was in possession of the suspected handgun.

In the second incident police responded to an assault in the same area. Beise says the victim was taken to the hospital for a head injury.

On Wednesday authorities arrested 20-year-old Kevin Johnson in connection to the assault. Further investigation led to the use of a search warrant which recovered several items taken in burglaries in Sauk Rapids and Benton County.

Beise says Johnson is being charged with felony assault. The investigation continues into the activities of both parties.
