The need for mental health services continues to grow and CentraCare is implementing an new innovative care model for adult patients experiencing emergency mental health needs.

CentraCare Spokesman Dr. George Morris joined me on WJON today. He says the number of positive Covid-19 patients at St. Cloud Hospital has dropped to 20 people with a third of those in the ICU. He says those numbers are on-par with their numbers they had back in September.

He goes on to say for the first time in a longtime they have less than 40 positive Covid-19 patients at St. Cloud Hospital and they have just a "hand full" of patients in the ICU.

The new guidelines will allow each adult patient to have one healthy adult visitor. Minor patients will be allowed to have two adult visitors.

CentraCare's Dr. George Morris says all residents – even those who have been vaccinated – need to continue following all COVID-19 spread mitigation recommendations in coming months.

The St. Cloud-based health system says the number of people interested in being vaccinated is “encouraging,” but they can only administer shots to certain groups right now due to a limited supply of vaccine.

He says they haven't seen a surge of Covid-19 patients at St. Cloud Hospital and within CentraCare that may have been a reflection of holiday gatherings. He says this is a good sign but Covid-19 still exists in this community and is still spreading in this community.

Starting Friday CentraCare will begin phasing in offering the COVID-19 vaccine to members of the community 65 and older.

The term "quarantine 15" has been thrown around a lot since the pandemic, and with a new year many of us may have a renewed focused on losing a few unwanted pounds.

Dr. George Morris from CentraCare joined me on WJON this week for an update on Covid-19 at St. Cloud Hospital and within CentraCare. He says they've vaccinated more than 3,000 high risk people with the Covid-19 vaccine.
