The walleye fishing opener was last Saturday in Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON Thursday. He says the opener wasn't as good for fishing as past openers in large part due to the weather. The DNR says fishing license sales are up this year by 5% from last year despite the high popularity of fishing last year due to the pandemic.

The Vikings beat the Bears in Chicago 19-13 Monday night. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says the Bears are not a good team and that played a big role in the Vikings win. He says the young defensive backs and defensive line played a good 2nd half but where anchored on defense by safeties Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris and middle linebacker Eric Kendricks.

The Vikings play in Chicago against the Bears tonight on Monday Night Football at 7:15, pregame on WJON at 6:00. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says the Bears are struggling on offense especially in their passing game with Nick Foles at quarterback.

The Vikings lost 16-6 Sunday afternoon in Chicago to the Bears to drop to 2-2 on the season. Chicago led 10-0 at halftime and 16-0 at the end of 3 quarters. The Vikings knocked out Bears' starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in the 1st quarter but backup Chase Daniel threw for 195 yards and a touchdown to lift Chicago to the win.

The Vikings could move into a first place tie Sunday if they beat the Bears in Chicago. That became possible after Green Bay lost at home to Philadelphia Thursday night. Detroit would need to lose at home against Kansas City for that to become possible too.

The Vikings saw their season end Sunday with a 24-10 loss at home against the Chicago Bears. The Vikings loss plus Philadelphia's win over Washington eliminates Minnesota.
