No matter what your personal threshold is for golfing outdoors, courses throughout Minnesota are about to lock the gates for the winter, if they haven't already.

It doesn't mean you have to pack away your clubs and risk losing all momentum this summer. There are plenty of ways you can hone your skills, build strength and flexibility, and enjoy the best game of all time. Swing House Golf Sims offers private bays with state-of-the-art Trackman simulators that allow you to play 350+ courses and drill down on analytics to really improve your game.

Swing House owners Derek Strom and Sion Owen(more commonly known as "The Guys") have a few tips for making the most of the "off season" that they've gleaned from industry experts and their own experiences:

1) Set a few goals for improvement. Back in the day, golfers would work on chipping and putting during inclement weather or swing with weighted clubs to improve strength and precision. Those options are still available, but the technology at Swing House gives you so many more. The Trackman systems offer a wealth of data points, including club speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, carry distance, and face angle. Not only can you understand the physics of your shots, but you can track improvement and set more nuanced goals.

2) Make the game a game. Trackman is consistently adding new courses, so you could focus on playing courses in Florida or Tour courses. You could drill down on specific stats, like improving distance or accuracy. You also could play challenges and games, like "Bullseye" or "Closest to the Pin," which can keep motivation high and/or be fun to play in a group.

3) Don't underestimate the importance of stretching, strength, and flexibility. Most of us don't use our "golf muscles" for daily activity, but strength and flexibility help power your golf swings. You can look for golf-specific workouts, commit to 10-15 minutes of stretching, or incorporate yoga into your daily routines. Swing House’s spacious private bays give plenty of room for adequate stretching.

4) Get personal. Trackman Performance Studio offers extensive data on every shot, and you can get coaching and swing analysis from Tracy, its AI-powered assistant. You can use the on-course practice mode to train for specific "real life" scenarios, and Trackman can also "normalize" the data to give you insight into how the shot would have performed in ideal conditions (IE, removing the effects of wind, temperature, and altitude).

5) Make it a habit. It's great to be an occasional enthusiast, but real improvement comes from regular practice. Commit to golfing with Trackman simulators weekly, twice a week, or a certain number of times a month. Swing House is available "twenty-fore-seven," so for many people it's easier to schedule than traditional tee times. You can book individual sessions online or get a membership.
