Stillwater Police Investigate Stabbing Death
STILLWATER-- Police in Stillwater are investigating how a man ended up stabbed to death in his house.
Police received a call about a domestic disturbance that possibly involved a knife at a home a block from their downtown headquarters Friday. Officers arrived to find 59-year-old William Mark Scheel and his son, 30-year-old William James Scheel, severely injured.
The Washington County Sheriff's Depatment said in a news release Saturday that the elder Scheel died of his wounds. His son was in critical but stable condition at a St. Paul hospital.
Investigators are treating the incident as a homicide. The release said there's no further threat to the community. Stillwater Police Chief John Gannaway declined comment when asked to elaborate during a phone interview Saturday.
