Stearns County to Open Second Swimming Hole at Quarry Park
WAITE PARK -- Stearns County is using a pair of grants to open a second swimming quarry at the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve.
Melrose Deep 7 Quarry opened in 1998. Starting next summer, park-goers will be able to swim in the more family-friendly Quarry 11. County Parks Director Peter Theismann says the quarry will have more gradual slopes, bathroom facilities and a picnic shelter.
He says they received a $136,000 Legacy Amendment grant and a $15,500 grant from the Bernick's Foundation.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held September 9th at 12:30 p.m.
