ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another man seven times.

The incident happened at around midnight Friday morning in the 1200 block of St. Germain Street East in St. Cloud.

Sergeant Jason Burke says 31-year-old Elija Creech called dispatchers and told them he had stabbed a man at his apartment and that the man was going to die.

When officers arrived on scene they found the 20-year-old victim with several knife wounds to the front, sides, and back of his neck and his cheek.

Police say the two men had an argument over playing the card game Magic the Gathering and a verbal argument led to Creech hitting the victim in the face with a rubber mallet then stabbed him with knife.

Burke says Creech has a criminal history for possession an explosive and other hazardous materials. A search warrant was used and St. Cloud Hazmat team was called in to conduct an air quality test, but all tests were negative.

The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for his injuries.

Creech was arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail. He faces charges of 1st and 2nd Degree assault.

The investigation is on going.
