FOLEY - A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a Benton County road yesterday (Sunday).

The incident happened at about 1:45 p.m. The Sheriff's Department was notified that a small plane would be making an emergency landing, due to mechanical problems, and that it was not going to be able to make it to the St. Cloud Regional Airport. A Cirrus 4 seat single engine plane landed on 15th Avenue Northeast, stopping at the intersection of 160th Street Northeast in Langola Township.

The pilot and his three passengers were not hurt.

Fifty-two-year-old pilot Craig Bureind of Chanhassen says he was flying from Mankato to Breezy Point.

The plane went into the ditch to avoid a vehicle. It suffered some minor damage when it struck a telephone pole support wire.

The FAA is investigating.
