ST. CLOUD -- After six years working in the Senate, Senator John Pederson has announced he will not seek a third term in November.

Pederson, in his second term as senator, announced today (Friday) that he will not seek re-election and leave when his term expires.

He has a long history of public service including the St. Cloud City Council, Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Commission, St. Cloud Housing and Redevelopment Authority and Minnesota State Senate.

Pederson says "I have always considered it a privilege to serve the residents of Senate District 14. I want to thank everyone who has supported me over my past six years in the Senate."

He was first elected in 2010 and was re-elected in 2012.
