ST. CLOUD -- February is American Heart Month, a time to focus on preventing issues like heart disease.

All month, staff at CentraCare Health have been stressing the concern of heart disease.

Kathleen Mahon is a Nurse Practitioner at the CentraCare Heart and Vascular Center. She says besides exercise,  meditation is a good way to help prevent stress to the heart.

"The mind and heart are linked, so if you're angry it immediately reflects in your heart," says Mahon.

Mahon says a combination of stress management, healthy diet and exercise will limit your chance of heart disease.

"Doing all these things together are important," says Mahon.

Mahon says that just 20 minutes a day of either exercise or meditation can significantly limit your chance of heart disease.
