SAUK RAPIDS -- Schools within the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district are without power thanks to the recent outage.

The Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle school, High School and Mississippi Heights Elementary are without power.

Superintendent Dan Bittman says because of the power outages phones and internet within the building are not able to send messages to parents.

He says with the outage all after school activites at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle and High School have been cancelled for tonight (Wednesday).

However, Bittman says the school play is still on.

He also adds that the after school Kids Stop program at Mississippi Heights has changed location to Pleasant View Elementary for this evening.

Students that attend Kids Stop have been bussed to Pleasant View where things will run as normal with the same end time. Parents should plan to pick up their children who attend kids stop at Pleasant View instead of Mississippi Heights.

Bittman says Xcel Energy hopes to return power to the schools by 6:00 p.m. tonight (Wednesday).
