BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) - Family members say a 61-year-old man who died in a hit-and-run in the northern Twin Cities had emigrated from Ethiopia nearly three years ago.

Authorities identify the victim as Meshu Lamu of Brooklyn Park. The State Patrol says Lamu was struck about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday near Highway 252 on the border of Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park. He died at the scene.

Lamu lived about three blocks northeast of where he was killed. He was run over by one and possibly two vehicles that fled from the intersection.

Reports say the patrol is looking for a 2004 Suzuki Vitara with gray fender flares and damage to its left side. The second vehicle has not been identified.

Police say the road was dry at the time.
