WAITE PARK - A revised plan for a two-hotel complex in Waite Park now includes an expanded convention Center.

Waite Park City Administrator Shaunna Johnson says the Silver Leaf Development Group was originally going to have a 7,000 square foot conference space in the first of the two hotels. Now they're looking to build a 27,000 square foot convention center that could accommodate up to 800 people.

Johnson says, the Waite Park City Council held a special meeting this (Friday) morning to approve the submission of a DEED redevelopment grant of $623,000 to help pay for the expanded project. Silver Leaf is also asking Waite Park for $4.26 million in TIF money.

The proposed project is along 6th Avenue South and County Road 75.

Another two-hotel development is also being planned for the area next to Menards in Waite Park.
