Morrison County Target of New Telephone Credit Card Scam

LITTLE FALLS -- A new scam is being reported in Morrison County, one that has recently started targeting small businesses.

According to the Sheriff Shawn Larsen, a business will receive a call from a man with a foreign accent. He calls from the number 410-384-8272, asking for prices to buy large amounts of product, and asking if they take credit card payments over the phone.

Businesses have shipped out product only to find out later the credit card is stolen, leaving them out both the money and product. In these cases, business owners looked up the number and found it was attached to several scams.

Sheriff Larsen says to use caution and make sure the transaction is legitimate if you're doing business over the phone.
