Minnesota Soybean Harvest Continues Ahead of Last Year

ST. PAUL (AP) - Farmers were able to harvest nearly one-quarter of Minnesota's soybean crop in the past week, despite having only 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork.

According to the Minnesota crop report released Monday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says it was the least amount of days suitable since the week ending August 23.

Minnesota's soybean harvest is 34% complete, 10 days ahead of last year and five days ahead of the five-year average. Soybean condition is rated 79% good to excellent.

Farmers are starting to harvest corn for grain throughout Minnesota. Sixty-seven percent of the state's corn acreage was mature, 10 days ahead of last year and two days ahead of average. Corn condition is rated 88% good to excellent. Corn harvested for silage is 86% complete, three days ahead of normal.
