ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A St. Paul man accused of killing his wife won't take the witness stand.

The defense decided not to have Jeffery Trevino testify at his murder trial. Trevino's attorney rested his case Monday without calling any witnesses.

Trevino is on trial in the death of his wife, 30-year-old Kira Steger (STEG'-ur). Steger was last seen alive Feb. 21. Her body was recovered from the Mississippi River in May.

Monday, prosecutors tried to dismantle defense attorney John Conard's theory that Steger's marijuana use could have contributed to her death. A bag of marijuana was found in Steger's purse in her abandoned car at the Mall of America.

Retired St. Paul police Sgt. John Wright testified the marijuana was worth about $20.
