Minnesota Historic Sites Reopen Saturday
ST. PAUL (AP) - If you're planning a weekend visit to one of Minnesota's historic sites or museums, you're in luck.
The Minnesota State Historical Society says the 26 museums and historic sites will reopen to the public on Saturday now that the state budget impasse has been resolved. Gov. Mark Dayton signed a new budget Wednesday, ending the nation's longest state government shutdown in the past decade.
The historical society says its programs will also resume this week, including two music series. The first Mill City Live concert at Mill City Museum will be held Thursday. The first 9 Nights of Music concert at the Minnesota History Center will be Tuesday.
The society estimates it was unable to serve more than 40,000 visitors during the government shutdown which began July 1.
