ST. CLOUD -- A Rosemount man has been sentenced in the stabbing death of his St. Cloud mother last August.

A Stearns County judge sentenced 40-year-old Chad Pulju to almost 22-years in prison today.

Pulju pleaded guilty in March to second degree intentional murder. He admitted he was the one who stabbed his mother, but maintained he was in an alcoholic blackout and doesn't remember the murder.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the home in the 2700 block of Atwood Drive just after 12:30 a.m. August 23rd on a domestic assault call. Police arrived to find a woman with knife wounds to her neck, face and arm. Police say Pulju was standing over the woman, 68-year-old Geraldine Bennett, with blood on his shirt. He was not administering first aid.

Police forced their way into the house and detained Pulju. They found a folding knife with blood on it underneath his left leg.
