Make This Halloween A Safe One

UNDATED - As you get your little ones ready to go trick-or-treating tonight (Wednesday), make sure you keep their safety in mind.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says the flame the flickers eerily on the front porch can be a disaster for a child in the wrong costume.

Some tips: when carving pumpkins, cut out the bottom instead of the top, avoid loose-fitting, flowing costumes, and look for labels that indicate flame-resistant materials, and use flameless candles or glow-sticks.

More than 3,000 people end up in emergency rooms every Halloween because of candle-related injuries.
