SAUK RAPIDS -- The United Way of Central Minnesota is registering volunteers for their "We Are Thankful" food packaging" event.

Kids Against Hunger will be packaging food on Saturday, November 23rd for the Lamia Afghan Foundation, an organization that distributes food and aid to various locations in Afghanistan.

Volunteers can sign-up for a two hour packaging session at the Kids Fighting Hunger warehouse in Sauk Rapids.

There are three sessions that begin at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. The United Way expects to package about 30,000 meals over the course of six hours.

Volunteers are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Catholic Charities food shelf. You can sign-up for the packaging event by registering online or by calling the United Way at 320-252-0227.
