One of the oldest St. Cloud businesses still operating is one that has been open since 1873, and might be in one of the few industries that is as certain as tax collection.

Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Homes

Williams Dingmann has been in business for the last 153 years, according to their website. They have 9 locations across Central Minnesota, and you might not realize just how long they have been serving the St. Cloud area until you do some research.

Miller Architects and Builders

Miller Architects and Builders has been in the St. Cloud area since 1874, just one year after Williams Dingmann came into existence. Miller Architects has been around since reconstruction after the Civil War. The business has gone from farm building repairs to new ag construction, and then got into residential and commercial construction. You can learn more about the business on their website here.

Daniel Funeral Home

Another funeral home business that has been around for more than 100 years in the St. Cloud area. The business has been around since 1881, but it wasn't always a funeral home. It was actually a furniture store before it became a funeral home. Because furniture makers also made caskets at the time, Arnold Daniel eventually became an undertaker, and the business evolved into a funeral home.

Beaudreau's Bar

Frank Beaudreau received what city records indicate was the first saloon license ever issued in St. Cloud in 1880. He apparently opened the saloon itself around 1884. Interestingly, the original business was at 418 E. St. Germain, next door to the current location.

Eich Motor Company

The Eich Motor Company traces its roots all the way back to 1898, when the business started off selling wagons and farm equipment in downtown St. Cloud. The company eventually moved into selling automobiles and became a Studebaker dealer. The City of St. Cloud in 2024 listed Eich Motor Company as being "the seventh longest-running auto dealership in the U.S."

The Oldest Ford Dealership In The World Also Calls St. Cloud Home

Of course, on the topic of car dealerships in the St. Cloud area, the world's oldest Ford dealership, Tenvoorde Ford, also calls St. Cloud home, having been founded in 1903.
