I'm sorry if this gives you the heebie jeebies. Maybe it gives you the creepy crawlies. I mean, it is that time of year. Halloween is just around the corner and soon we'll be putting up fake cobwebs. But, you might not have to put up fake ones, just leave all the new ones in place. This is the time of year when spiders are abundant in your home.

Some people think that it's because of the colder weather outside that's bringing the spiders inside. Spiders aren't exactly like mice in that regard. Sure, some may come in to seek warmth, but for the most part, the spiders that you are seeing have always been there in your home.

So why are we seeing more of them?

It's mating season. Yeah, spiders mate. That's gross enough to think of, so just try to get that image out of your head. Sorry, I'm bad at this not creeping people out thing.

Spiders are on the move looking for a mate. That's why you see them more. It's kind of like when deer are in rut. The males are up on the move looking for the females.

Yeah, it's kind of gross, but if it's any comfort at all, it's not like there are more of them. They are just more visible.

I remember not sleeping for a week when someone told me this as a kid. I'd turn my lamp on and search my bed whenever I woke up in the middle of the night, trying to find a spider just waiting to crawl into my mouth.
