Is Minnesota A Good State for Singles?
Valentine’s Day is Friday. It’s known as the “day of love” or a day to show that one your love how much they mean to you. But what about those who don’t currently have a significant other? It could be a great day to find where other single people are and maybe they wrap up the day with someone special?

The folks at Wallethub dove into the topic of single folks in America and wanted to know which states are the best for singles. They discovered during this research that almost half of Americans are single.
That seems like a lot, but I’ve been married for 28 years so I’m well out of the dating pool.
The personal finance website used three primary dimensions and 29 key indicators to rank the states from best to worst when it comes to appealing to those in the dating pool.
The three primary dimensions were: Dating Economics, Dating Opportunities and Romance and Fun.
So where does Minnesota rank?
Wallethub says that Minnesota is the 10th best state if you are single. That number comes from key indicators of being the 8th best state for “Gender Balance of Singles”, which was a component of this study. Minnesota finished 8th in that category.
Our state is 21st when it comes to online-dating opportunities, and 12th best for mobile dating.
But this study dove deeper than just how many folks are in the dating pool here. When it comes to “Median Annual Household Income” (which was adjusted for the cost of living in each state), Minnesota was 4th best for that.
Then they wanted to study dating opportunities themselves. When it comes to “Movie Theatres per Capita”, Minnesota finished 8th. “Restaurants per Capita” was another category and we were lower on the list, finishing 24th.
Another very important figure WalletHub studied was the crime rate in each state, and for that one Minnesota came in 20th.
Our mid-western neighbors in Wisconsin were the only state from this region to finish ahead of Minnesota, coming in 7th overall in the study.
The Dakotas came a lot further down on the list with South Dakota finishing 44th and North Dakota 48th.
So, if you’re single or you know someone who is, this isn’t a bad place to be when it comes to having opportunities to find a mate. Now, it's up to you to decide what the most important characteristics you’re looking for are.
Happy Hunting!
