ORR, Minn. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Duluth man who died after becoming ill while hiking a remote trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

He was Luke Leonard Larson, 27, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office got a medical emergency call just after 6 p.m. Monday. But by the time rescuers arrived, Larson was already dead.

He and two other friends had been hiking the Sioux Hustler Trail since Friday. Larson fell ill during the hike and by Monday was unable to continue. Another man in the group hiked out and called for help.

The cause is death was pending an autopsy, but authorities said it did not appear suspicious.

The area of the BWCA, near Lower Pawness Lake, is remote wilderness.
