PISCATAWAY, NJ - The University of Minnesota mens basketball team (18-7, 6-6) picked up a tough road win over Rutgers (13-13, 2-11) Saturday afternoon 72-63.

The Gophers were led by another big performance by sophomore Jordan Murphy. Murphy led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds highlighted by a ferocious dunk over a Rutgers defender.

Freshman standout Amir Coffey continued his strong season with 12 points 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Gophers went up by 49-37 early in the second half after a pair of Nate Mason three-pointers. Rutgers responded with a run of their own and cut the lead to 66-61 late in the game.

After Rutgers got within five the Gophers defense clamped down and gave up only 2 points during the remaining 3:30 seconds of the game.

Next up for the Gophers is a home game Wednesday night against the Indiana Hoosiers.
