GLENWOOD  (AP) - A woman accused of beating her husband who had suffered a stroke and then blaming the attack on an intruder has been found guilty in Pope County.

Thirty-six-year-old Loretta Buhl of Glenwood called police last November and told them an intruder had entered her home, beaten her husband, who was in a wheelchair, and sexually assaulted her.

Buhl's husband suffered broken ribs and head trauma. State and local investigators say their focus turned to Buhl after discrepancies in evidence and her statements were uncovered.

Buhl was found guilty this week of third-degree assault and falsely reporting a crime. Other charges were dismissed.

Buhl will be sentenced Nov. 16 and faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
