Giving Tuesday: Quiet Oaks Hospice Invites You to Come See what They’re All About
ST. AUGUSTA - Now that it's spring, Quiet Oaks Hospice House and Respite Care is sprucing up their grounds. Executive Director Linda Allen says they could use a few volunteers on Saturday.
This Saturday the weather might not be all that great, so we'll probably be doing some indoor clean-up. So if anybody is interested, they can give us a call. We'd love to have some volunteers out there.
Allen says they also rely on volunteers year round, so anyone looking for volunteer opportunities in the community can give them a call.
Quiet Oaks Hospice House and Respite Care also has a public event coming up next week. Allen says the "Garden With Heart" event on Saturday, May 6th is an opportunity for you to come and see what they're all about, and learn more about their facility.
She says she also looks forward to seeing families that they've helped in the past.
It's a chance to get families who have been served by Quiet Oaks to come back in a really non-threatening environment. Sometimes it can feel a little awkward and challenging just to come back, but they love to reconnect with the staff. They're a part of our Quiet Oaks family.
Allen says some of the activities that day include gardening and soil demonstrations, kid's events, and cooking demonstrations. It runs from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.
Quiet Oaks is a non profit and relies solely on local donations - and people - to do their work.
Quiet Oaks has eight beds for patients, plus guest rooms available for families. They've have served over 610 residents and their families since they opened in the fall of 2008 in St. Augusta.
