BARNESVILLE, Minn. (AP) - Barnesville police say a 9-year-old girl walked into the station and calmly informed officers that her parents were growing marijuana under the house.

She wanted police to help because the smell of pot smoke made her sick. She says she was worried her dogs would get sick too.

Officer Ryan Beattie says the girl was "very brave, very smart, very articulate." He says she gave specific information about drug paraphernalia "that no young person ought to have knowledge about."

Police searched the home and found seven marijuana plants growing under the house. They also found drug equipment and other suspected drugs. Beattie says charges haven't been filed pending the results of lab analyses.

The girl is now staying with her grandparents.
