History could be made this weekend in Moorhead. An off-reservation dispensary serving the public sounds like it might be opening over the weekend, making it the first off-reservation dispensary to open in Minnesota, since recreational marijuana was legalized in 2023.

Fox 9 talked with the CEO of the White Earth Nation's recreational marijuana brand, Waabigwan Mashkiki, about the possible historic moment this weekend, and he told them that as of Thursday, the brand was still making sure it was going to be in full compliance before they opened the doors to the public.

This is big news, as this is the same dispensary 'brand' that has been tied to a dispensary in St. Cloud. Fox 9's article online, here, states that construction on the St. Cloud location is ongoing, and the store could be opening sometime during the month of June, although there were no dates given during the interview.

Rough Start To Pot In MN

The roll out of recreational marijuana in Minnesota hasn't been the smoothest, and that is being generous. Here is a brief timeline of setbacks since recreational marijuana was legalized in Minnesota back in 2023.
