Fresh and Local: New Rice Farmer’s Market Kicks Off Tuesday
RICE - Fresh and local foods are coming to a new farmers market in Rice on Tuesday.
The Rice Farmer's Market will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at City Park on Main and Division Street.
The Rice Women of Today organized the market, which was approved by the city council in the spring. The market will be held every Tuesday through September.
Organizer Jennifer Popp says she and her husband live on a small hobby farm. The idea to bring a farmers market to Rice started when they heard interest from other residents to bring in a regular farmers market.
Popp says they hope the market will become a community gathering spot where residents can find more local and healthy food options.
