ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud VA is implementing visitor restrictions at the Community Living Center to prevent the spread of influenza and related illnesses.

The recent statewide increase of the flu has caused the VA to limit visitors of resident veterans to immediate family members. Those who are ill or who may have been exposed to people with flu-like symptoms should reconsider any visits at this time.

The VA also says young children should not visit the living center until the flu outbreak has subsided.

Tina Schmidt, the VA's Infection Prevention Nurse, released a statement saying the need for visitor restrictions will be "continually assessed and the goal is to remove them as soon as it is safe to do so."
