Fire Destroys Stearns County Garage

COLLEGEVILLE -- Fire destroyed a rural Collegeville garage and its contents - a loss of roughly a quarter of a million dollars.

Deputies from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from the 14000 block of Knightwood Road in Collegeville Township on Sunday just before 1:30 a.m.

When they arrived, deputies saw a detached garage fully engulfed in flames and heard "loud popping and small explosion sounds."

The garage, owned by Kevin and Annamae Schrom, contained two vehicles and a side-by-side ATV. It is considered a total loss with an estimated damage of $250,000.

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
