Famous Doughnut Brand Coming Back To Minnesota After 2 Decades?
Internet sleuths are cracking more than cold cases nowadays. It appears that someone in the Reddit community loves a certain brand of doughnuts, as rumors of Krispy Kreme coming back to Minnesota seem to have re-ignited after a picture of building plans emerged on the popular internet forum.
Reddit User Hugeexample posted the online plans to the Reddit TwinCities channel.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Fridley, MN

The post was captioned, Guess Who's Back? followed by a picture of the Krispy Kreme plans.
The building is a remodel of an existing building located in Fridley.
The remodel would take what was once a CVS Pharmacy building and convert it into a Krispy Kreme doughnut kitchen, and have some sort of forward-facing sales in a portion of the building.
Krispy Kreme came to Minnesota in 2002, and within 6 years the Minnesota locations had all closed down. Target in 2023 started offering Krispy Kreme doughnuts in some of its stores.
Krispy Kreme in 2019, before the pandemic, made headlines in Minnesota as they wouldn't allow a college student to purchase Krispy Kreme doughnuts and drive them across state lines to sell them.
The project has an opening date or January 1st, 2025, listed on one of the forms online, but it's unclear if that is when the store would potentially open.
Until this Fridley location is built, the closest Krispy Kreme location is in Des Moines Iowa, with the next closest city being Milwaukee.
