Six-year veteran Tom Decker died late Thursday after being shot twice during a welfare check. A 34-year-old man is being held on suspicion of his murder.

Decker's body was accompanied by a police escort to and from St. Paul on Friday for a preliminary autopsy by the Ramsey County medical examiner. About 30 cars, with lights flashing, were alongside on the road back to Cold Spring.

Chief Phil Jones says Decker's body will be guarded 24 hours a day until his funeral.
