OLIVIA  (AP) - A couple has died after their vehicle struck an unoccupied farm implement along a highway in Renville County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 76-year-old Thomas Kopel and 74-year-old Carla Kopel, of Olivia, died of injuries suffered Sunday in the crash on Highway 71 south of their hometown.

The patrol says the farm implement was parked on the northbound shoulder and extended about 2 feet into the traffic lane.

A 54-year-old passenger Allie Cook, of Cottage Grove, suffered non-life threatening injuries. A second passenger in the back seat, 53-year-old Theresa Cook, of Cottage Grove, was not hurt.
