ST. CLOUD -- With temperatures now colder, a local organization is providing homeless people with a warm place to go.

Place of Hope Ministries has been working with area churches since 2001 to give the homeless a place to go when area shelters fill up.

Pastor Carol Jean Smith says the churches act as a shelter on wheels for about a week at a time for the homeless in the community.

"They are able to come here (Place of Hope) at night to have a meal and then we will transport them to a local church for the overnight stay," says Smith.

About 18 churches participate in the program. Smith says, along with providing shelter, church volunteers help with serving morning and evening meals.

"We ask them to consider adopting the meals, and provide snacks for us to make here at Place of Hope," says Smith.

If you want to participate in the program you're asked to arrive at Door 4 at Place of Hope by 5:00 p.m.

Smith says the 'Church of the Week' program is also offered during the summer months when temperatures become extremely hot.
