Cause of Flour Mill Fire Undetermined

FREEPORT - It looks like we'll never know what started the fire that destroyed the Swany White Flour Mill in Freeport.

The State Fire Marshal released a report today (Tuesday) saying the cause of the fire will remain undetermined.  Due to the collapse and demolition of the three-story building, the Fire Marshal was unable to conduct a thorough investigation.

The owner and an employ spotted smoke and flames on the third floor of the mill on December 27th.  The 100-year-old structure later collapsed.

The damage is estimated at $850,000.
