The Gopher basketball team improved to 5-0 with a 85-80 overtime win over Boston College as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says bench players Jamal Mashburn Jr., Isaiah Ihnen, and Tre Williams were big contributors in the win.

The Gophers will host Missouri-Kansas City Thursday night before beginning their Big Ten schedule on Tuesday, December 15th with a game at #6 Illinois.

Minnesota United FC lost 3-2 to Seattle in the MLS Western Conference Finals Monday night. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan says the way they lost after taking a 2-0 lead is leaving many Minnesota sports fans to compare them to the Twins, Vikings, Wild, etc...

The Vikings posted a 27-24 overtime win over Jacksonville Sunday to improve to 6-6 and for the moment claim the 7th seed in the upcoming NFC playoffs. He says the Vikings didn't play well for much of the day on offense or defense and the special teams missed kicks really caused some problems too.

The Twins signed relief pitcher Taylor Rogers to a 1-year $6 Million contract. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says the Twins had to bring back Rogers. He says Rogers is their best relief pitcher even if he may not be ideal as the closer.

The Twins have non-tendered both outfielder Eddie Rosario and relief pitcher Matt Wisler meaning both players have become free agents. He says the Twins say they could bring back Eddie Rosario but he thinks they are moving on and will likely give the full time left field job to prospect Alex Kirilloff.

The Twins allowed relief pitcher Trevor May to sign a 2-year $15 Million contract with the New York Mets and have placed outfielder Eddie Rosario on outright waivers. The Gopher men's basketball team improved to 3-0 after posting a 67-64 win over Loyola Marymount Monday night. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says the Gophers didn't play well in this one and were bailed out by a hot Marcus Carr down the stretch. Carr hit the game-winning 3-point shot to break the 64-all tie with 2.7 seconds left.

Next up for the Gophers is a matchup with the University of North Dakota on Friday night. The game can be heard on AM 1390 Granite City Sports.

The Vikings came from behind to defeat the Carolina Panthers Sunday 28-27 to improve to 5-6 and they keep themselves alive for a playoff spot.
