Burnsville Family Steps Forward as $229-Million Powerball Winners
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) - Thomas Morris and his wife, Kathleen, are Burnsville's newest millionaires.
The Minnesota Lottery announced Friday that the couple have won the Powerball lottery worth nearly $229 million. Lottery officials say it's the largest jackpot ever won in Minnesota.
The lottery says Thomas Morris bought the winning ticket on Aug. 10 at a SuperAmerica convenience story in Lakeville.
The Morris' will have 60 days to decide whether to take about $123 million in cash now, which would be about $84 million after taxes, or a full payout over 30 years.
The SuperAmerica gets $50,000 for selling the winning ticket.
