Albany To Close Hospital at the End of the Year, CentraCare To Lease Clinic

ALBANY -- Albany Area Hospital will close at the end of the year.

Today (Monday) CHI St. Gabriel's Health of Little Falls released a statement saying the board of leaders have determined the Albany Area Hospital will discontinue provide services on December 31st.

President Lee Boyels says there were a number of factors that led to the decision, including data showing more people were receiving care in St. Cloud due to the number of services available.

CentraCare Health plans to lease the existing Albany Medical Clinic space starting January 1st, to use as a medical clinic until a new clinic can be built.

A 90-day notification of the transfer is required, which has been submitted to the Minnesota Department of Health for review and approval.

CHI St. Gabriel's Health and CentraCare Health will work together to ensure a smooth transition for patients, providers, and employees during this time.
