3 Indicted in Assault at Sherburne County Jail

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Three federal defendants have been indicted in an attack on two correctional officers at the Sherburne County Jail.

The indictment alleges the three men, including an admitted member of the Native Mob gang, conspired to attack the two guards Feb. 8. Prosecutors say the inmates used a chair and pepper spray to assault the officers, who suffered numerous injuries.

Twenty-six-year-old Ira Goodwin, the gang member, was being held in the county jail after pleading guilty to charges related to the federal racketeering trial underway in Minneapolis for three other members of the violent American Indian gang.

Twenty-five-year-old Michael Luedtke was jailed awaiting his federal prison assignment for armed robbery. Twenty-eight-year-old Edward Robinson was in jail while on trial for arson and murder on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
