Work of Art, Selfie Station Installed Along the Mississippi River
ST. CLOUD - Now you can stop and take a picture at a brand new "selfie station" along the Mississippi River in downtown St. Cloud.
Mayor Dave Kleis says the artwork was installed Thursday morning along the new extension of the Beaver Island Trail.
He says he got the idea while on vacation.
Miami Beach is actually where I got the idea. I was sitting at a restaurant and I saw a sign that says "Miami Beach", and everyone who walked on that sidewalk stopped and took a selfie.
Kleis first brought up the idea two years ago during his "State of the City" address.
It was installed Thursday so it would be ready for all the guests in town for the Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener. He says we have the world famous Mississippi River in our own backyard, so we need to show it off.
The cost for the work of art was factored in to the Beaver Island Trail extension project. It is made of steel and features historic pictures of St. Cloud.
