MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A 49-year-old woman is hospitalized in serious condition in a burn unit after she became trapped in a house fire in Minneapolis.

Fire officials say they were called to the fire on James Avenue North early Sunday on a report of a fire with people trapped.

They arrived to find some occupants leaving the building, but learned at least one person was still inside on the second floor.

They found a woman inside and used a ladder to pull her from the fire. She was hospitalized and transferred to the Hennepin County Medical Center's burn unit.

The hospital is categorizing her situation as serious.

The woman's identity was not immediately released and authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
