You don't see this every day. A Minnesota Tesla driver learned that frozen lakes aren't a place for the electric car. The white Tesla has a hard time getting going once it stops on the frozen water.

I came across this video on social media this weekend, and it appears to show a white Tesla having some traction issues on Serpent Lake in Crosby? (There is a green dragon/serpent in the background in part of the video). The video was shared by UnReel Minnesota and shows a couple of guys pushing the Tesla on the ice to get it going again, only for it to get stuck a few feet away.

The Good Samaritans eventually got Tesla going, and it made its way off the ice.

Watching the video all I could think of was what is going on with this guy's battery? You'd think getting it stuck and having to 'rock' it out would put a damper on your range during the winter.

The real issue with the Tesla on the ice was that the car didn't have any clearance to get through the snow that piled up on the lake, causing it to get stuck.

Tesla recommends on its website if you do a lot of winter driving you are better served by putting on winter tires, rather than using the stock tires. You can see the difference that those tires make in this video from CNET when they reviewed the Tesla Model Y in 2022.

If you are heading out onto the ice, in your Tesla or something else, be sure to follow all signage, and pack out what you pack in.
