MELROSE -- An Idaho man wanted for kidnapping a child was arrested last (Sunday) night in Melrose Township.

The incident happened at about 9:00 p.m. at the Birch Lakes State Campground about six miles north of Melrose.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office received a call about a group of people at the campsite acting strange and covering up their vehicles with tarps.

The caller said he noticed the vehicles had Idaho license plates and, after going on-line, found multiple news articles about a missing child from the state of Idaho.

While deputies responded to the scene, authorities found an active warrant out for 28-year-old Joshua Oquendo for 2nd Degree Kidnapping and Child Custody Interference.

When deputies arrived at the campsite, the missing 16-month-old girl was found with the group..

After contacting law enforcement in Idaho and confirming the warrant for Oquendo all five members of the group were arrested.

Oquendo was booked on the warrant, 49-year-old Samantha Landauer, 54-year-old Jon Newman, 20-year-old Travis Adams, and 18-year-old Jorja Fouch were arrested on the offense of Aiding an Offender.

The investigation is still ongoing with law enforcement in Idaho.
