Traffic Counts Don’t Warrant Signal at St. Joe Intersection
ST. CLOUD -- Stearns County won't be placing a traffic light at a St. Joe intersection as initially planned.
County Engineer Jodi Teich says a more complete traffic count showed there is not enough cars who travel on County Road 2 and Minnesota Street West. Teich says they conducted a traffic count and it showed only two of the eight hours studied have enough traffic to warrant a signal.
So, Teich says they are looking at a rural intersection conflict warning system which warns drivers with flashing lights.
The intersection has been the site of several crashes since it opened last year including a fatal collision last month.
