Sartell's future is bright, but how do we keep that small-town charm? Mayor Fitzthum sheds light on balancing growth with community spirit.

The city of Sartell has assumed ownership of the old paper mill site along the river in Sartell. Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum joined me on WJON. He indicates they are in the process of phase 2 testing which tests what is underneath the surface and what it will take from a soil correction to redevelop that site.

The old paper mill site in Sartell has been empty for many years. Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum expects the city to close on the purchase of the property in January of 2023 and the city council will start discussions on plans for the property shortly thereafter.

Sartell has undergone a fair amount of road construction for the past several months. County Road 1, the River Road, has been a big Sartell and Stearns County project. Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum joined me on WJON. He indicated the plan is to have this segment of County Road 1 complete by November 15th and that includes the bike path, and walking path.

Sartell's Scheels Athletic Complex which includes 2 sheets of ice, the Sartell Community Center, Sartell-St. Stephen High School and Pine Cone Central Park continue to attract tournaments and many people to the city of Sartell.

Some major development could be on the horizon in Sartell.

Sartell is planning a Fire Department and Public Safety open house for Saturday October 9th from 1-4 p.m. Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum joined me on WJON today. He says they moved the event from a traditional Thursday night to Saturday afternoon to allow for more of the public to attend.

Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum joined me on WJON today. He says the $5.5 Million in bonding dollars going to Sartell road improvements should help spur commercial development in the Sartell Medical campus area and improve access to the Sartell Community Center.
