ST. CLOUD - The folks at the Stearns History Museum are getting ready to take an inventory of just exactly what it is they have in their collection.

Head Archivist Steve Penick says they've received a $93,000 grant from the Minnesota Historical Society for their "Archival Inventory Project".

It's very exciting, we've never had an inventory done. This is a great thing. This is not the complete inventory for everything we have, this is just a portion of it, but it's the biggest portion, as far as documents, diaries, correspondents, etc.

Penick says the project will better organize the museum's collection, and allow you greater access to the information. It is scheduled to get underway in January and should take about 18 months to complete.

The Minnesota Historical Society recently awarded 54 grants totaling over $4.6 million. The money comes from the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
