ALBANY - Another hurdle has been cleared in the ongoing efforts to create the Dairyland Trail between Albany and Brooten.

The Stearns County Board approved letting bids for the first phase of the corridor.  County Parks Director Chuck Wocken says they have about $630-thousand to get started.

If bids are approved, they would build approximately 14-miles of the 26 mile trail in the first phase...

But, the project is not a done deal yet.  County commissioners had several concerns about maintaining the trail in the future and want more answers before awarding bids.

The first phase of the trail would be from the North Fork of the crow River near Brooten to the Sauk River near New Munich.
