ST. CLOUD - The Stearns County Board of Commissioners have voted to stop charging non profit organizations that use the Sentence To Serve Program.  Instead, they'll charge the offenders who are in the program.

In November the Human Services Board established a $100 worksite fee for 2012, but in April Commissioners suspended the fee due to difficulties in implementation.  Now the Board has agreed to charge a $230 annual Supervision Fee to offenders in the Sentence to Serve crews.

The total cost to run the Sentence To Serve Program is $400,000.  The county receives nearly $150,000 in state subsidies.
